TRLP's Summer school provision proved to be a big success...
School may have been out for summer but that didn’t stop The Redstart Learning Partnership keeping their doors open to offer a summer school in partnership with Pro-Coaching. After careful consideration and assessing the element of risk, due to the pandemic, the Trust and Pro-coaching felt it was an opportunity not to be missed for pupils.
The summer school was offered for the full 6 weeks offering a mix of sports coaching and fun. Pro-Coaching and The Redstart Learning Partnership created safe, happy and action packed events throughout the summer, based at two of their primary sites The Redstart Primary School in Chard and Holy Trinity Primary School in Taunton.
Starting the day at 08:30 and going for the whole day until 16:30 every day, with a break for a well-deserved lunch. The summer school included lots of different activities including basketball, football, dodgeball, rounder’s, tag rugby and much more. To encourage the children and to give them some recognition for their weekly achievements, all children received a different colored medal at the end of every week with prizes also given out for great effort and good attitude.
In total 265 children attended the holiday scheme across both schools and 2186 single days were attended in total. The children had a great time over the summer and parents were equally delighted with the provision. All being well there are hopes to do this all over again over the Christmas holidays and we look forward to welcoming the children.

“It was an absolute pleasure to be able to put a programme in place for the children over the summer holidays, it was great to so many happy faces enjoying themselves, we hope to be running more activities again soon”
