The Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees at The Redstart Learning Partnership are responsible for the three main core governance functions:
• Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
• Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and
• Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.
The Redstart Learning Partnership governance structure
Our governance structure has recently been reviewed and updated to provide a stronger infrastructure to support the Trusts main aim of providing an outstanding education for every child.
At the heart of this lies a robust leadership strategy that is dynamic, innovative and working at a pace to ensure success is always achieved - Compassion, Courage, Collaborative Service, Excellence.
Governance at all schools in The Redstart Learning Partnership is defined by a clear line of accountability from every school upwards.
The Board has agreed that the new governance structure for The Redstart Learning Partnership will consist of four main sub-committees which are established to deal with Trust-wide matters. These are currently:
- The Business Committee (including Personnel and Pay)
- Audit & Risk Committee (ARC)
- The Education Committee
- The Admissions Committee
In addition to this each Trustee links directly with one of our schools. These are:
1. Redstart – Lorraine Davey
2. Priorswood – Mark Brierley
3. Hatch – Steve John
4. Holy Trinity – Simon Billington
5. Ashill – Steve John
6. Minerva – Joe Doggrell
7. Castle – Tim Kavanagh
8. Winsham – Steve John
9. Buckland – Richard Davies
10. Stockland - Wendy Duffield
As trustees of a charitable company, they also ensure that the Trust complies with charity and company law requirements.
At school level:
School matters will be dealt with by Teaching and Learning Committees (TLCs): Each school will have a TLC which may include parents, staff and members of the local community and a single TLC may also operate across more than one school. Where appropriate, a Core Group may be set up in place of a TLC.
The TLCs work in partnership with the schools, they communicate and report their work to the Trustees to provide a clear and vital link which adds an additional level of accountability.
All Trust schools are accountable to The Redstart Learning Partnerships Board of Trustees and work in partnership to facilitate and deliver our core purpose of providing an outstanding education for every child.
