Buckland St Mary C of E Primary School

Buckland St Mary C of E Primary School is a small village school with approximately 60 pupils on role. The pupils are shared between 3 classes;

Ash – EYFS/Year 1

Oak – Year 2/3/4

and

Beech – Year 5/6

Our strong links across the Learning Partnership enable us to maintain a small school environment whilst offering the support and facilities of a larger school. We have a very dedicated team of staff who work hard to give every single child the high quality education they deserve, irrespective of their ability or background. Our aim is to support every child and help them to achieve their potential. We know that children learn best when they feel happy, safe and valued and so this runs through the heart of everything that we do. We have and exciting curriculum that challenges, stimulates and strives to meet the needs of all of our learners.

At Buckland St Mary C of E Primary School parental involvement in education is essential. We endeavour to get parents and carers into school regularly to celebrate children’s achievements, both academic and personal.  It is also key for us as a school that parents are kept informed about how we teach your children and how, as parents, you can support with this.

As a Church of England school our Christian values and ethos underpin our commitment to work with the children on exploring these values as a way of strengthening their spiritual and moral development.  We have close links with the Diocese of Bath and Wells.

We have excellent links with the village community.  Our Local Vicar takes part in weekly assemblies in school and our ‘Open the book’ assembly takes place in the village church, led by members of the local congregation  We also have a number of local community members who support the school as volunteer readers for the children.

You are very welcome to visit us at Buckland St Mary C of E Primary School.  This will give you the opportunity to meet our children, staff and get a real feel of what we have to offer.
