Ashill Forest School
Ashill Forest School Leaders
Ashill pre-school and primary school were delighted that their two teachers Kelly Napper and Pamela Mount signed up to attend practical training to become fully qualified Forest School leaders by July 2021 for children aged 2 - 11years.
Kelly, who has worked in the preschool for 4 years has always wanted to become a Forest School Leader and has been able to set up a wealth of facilities at Ashill Primary School to include: two curriculum cabins for all-weather use, a fire pit area, a mud kitchen, a den building corner as well as a Greenhouse and gardening section. All this has been achieved with help from parents, staff volunteers and in particular local tradesman, Marc Burgess.
Marc has also very kindly helped renovate a large proportion of the school garden site and even helped clear away the garden waste and debris. The result is a completely transformed Forest School area. Marc, whose daughter used to attend the school and now his two granddaughters attend the school was delighted to offer his help and support.
The school and pupils would like to thank Marc and all the helpers for their time and commitment in making this possible for the school and they cannot wait to enjoy the new facilities.
Kelly’s vision, to provide Forest School to the whole school each week, as an extracurricular opportunity will soon be complete. She also has plans for an after-school club and future holiday workshops. Kelly would like to see the school being able to welcome visitors to the site once restrictions are over and to invite parents to come in and take part in workshops.
This will provide a fabulous experience for the pupils and parents and offer something for the local community. She also hopes this could in turn help provide funds for future development and resources.
